  • Pieces of Eight, group exhibition ‘Pieces of Fate‘ [link]; “Have you ever come across a piece of jewellery, and thought to yourself, this must have been made for me… And there it was, just sitting there, quite simply, waiting to be found. … Pieces of Eight Gallery presents Pieces of Fate, a group exhibition of exquisite handcrafted pendants. Drawing inspiration from Professor Robert Baines, who coined the term, the exhibition includes works from 37 of the gallery’s represented artists who broadly explore the idea of an objects fate. Within the pendants various manifestations lay inherent intentions, purposes and appeal; an unquestionable right to exist. What then becomes its destiny?“; until 2nd July
  • Geelong Gallery, Robert Baines ‘Metal‘ [link]; until 3rd July
  • ‘Deep Water’, NGV photography gallery [link]; “This exhibition, drawn from the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria, is in two sections, freshwater and saltwater, and includes photographs of; Antarctica, seascapes and coastal scenes, inland water ways and rivers, and images of swimming and bathing.“; until 11th September
  • ‘Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs‘, Melbourne Museum [link]; until 6th November (confirmed)
  • Kaleidoscope: Art & Colour‘, NGV [link]; “… celebrates the power of colour and the impact it has on our lives, from how we see and experience the world around us, to how we employ colour to express ourselves. How are colours made? How do artists use colour in different media? How can colour be used to fool the eye through optical illusions? With over 40 works from across the NGV collections, including paintings, textiles and objects by Asian, European, Indigenous Australian and Pacific artists, this exhibition encourages us to expand our perception, knowledge and experience of colour and discover how colours are used to fool, delight and inspire us in the kaleidoscope of life.“; until 5th February 2012; includes a piece by Robert Baines (which is great!)
