15th March: ‘Stories in Black‘ exhibition at Pro{Merging}Art; “STORIES IN BLACK brings together four jewellers; Meghan Ayton, Pamela Chan, Katie Collins and Jana Roman; 2013 graduates from RMIT Fine Arts, Object Based Practice, Gold and Silversmithing.
Reflections and commentaries on these women’s origins and environs influence this body of work; from chinese calligraphy, to architectural discourse and commercial construction zones. With an homage to black, each artist demonstrates a finely tuned craft for manipulating metals and accompanying materials. Play and elegance exist in parallel with this beautiful and innovative collection of work. “; until 22nd April; “PRO{MERGING}ARTSPACE is located within, but independent to, Antipodes Bookshop Gallery, 138 Ocean Beach Rd Sorrento

But afterwards: how do we put our oeuvre into the world? How do we shape the point of transition from the privacy of the studio into the public sphere? How do we present the results of our making to our audience? What do we want to happen when people see our work?”“; Saturday, Sunday, Monday – this is excellent for those who work during weekdays, yay RMIT!
