… last calendar post: Calendar: December 2013

all January:

  • NGV ‘Edward Steichen and Art Deco Fashion‘ [link]; until 4th March 2014
  • National Library of Australia (Canberra), ‘Mapping Our World: Terra Incognita to Australia‘ [link]; I’m such a map-nerd, I’m so excited about this; until 10th March 2014
  • NGV ‘Melbourne Now‘ [link]; “Melbourne Now celebrates the latest art, architecture, design, performance and cultural practice to reflect the complex cultural landscape of creative Melbourne. This ambitious and far-reaching exhibition across NGV Australia and NGV International will show how visual artists and creative practitioners have profoundly contributed to creating a place with a unique and dynamic cultural identity. The exhibition will represent Melbourne as a dynamic centre for the production of, debate about, and participation in contemporary art, architecture, design and performance – innovative creative practice in all its forms.“; I’ve noticed on the artist list that there are many well-known jewellers names, therefore I expect there will be something showcasing Melbourne’s significant contribution to the contemporary jewellery scene; until 23rd March 2014

13th – 17th January 2014: RMIT Object-based Practice presents Masterclass with Stefano Marchetti ‘Surface in Depth‘ [link]; 2014 Marchetti flier FINAL

20th – 23rd January 2014: Monash Summer Course ‘Jewellery – Contemporary Practice‘ [link]; “This intensive short course introduces participants to basic jewellery making. Participants learn how to use equipment and tools to give form to metals. Basic skills and techniques for metal work will be demonstrated, including saw cutting, drilling and soldering. Through a combination of technical exercises and examples of contemporary jewellery making, participants will realise one or more jewellery pieces.

20th – 24th January 2014: University of Sydney, College of Arts Masterclass with Stefano Marchetti ‘Surface in Depth‘ [link] … it’s fabulous that Stefano will be at Sydney and Melbourne on this trip!

26th January: last day for Jam Factory Seppeltsfield (SA) ‘Twenty-One‘ [link]

31st January: last day for application to the 38th Alice Prize [link]; “Open to artists working in Australia in any medium. Not limited to any genre,  subject matter or theme.”
