29th November: last day for application to RMIT ‘The Matter at Hand‘ [link]; “Part of the 2014 L’Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival Cultural Program, The Matter at Hand exhibition will explore the relationship between contemporary design and current social issues. The exhibition will showcase a diverse range of mediums and approaches including fashion, textiles, jewelry & other wearable-based practices. Can fashion, textiles and objects worn on or near the body be an agent for change? Can making be a political act? Themes that might be explored include sustainability, gender and socio-political issues

This ambitious and far-reaching exhibition across NGV Australia and NGV International will show how visual artists and creative practitioners have profoundly contributed to creating a place with a unique and dynamic cultural identity.
