1st December: Hand Held Gallery, Suse Scholem ‘Abject Object‘ [link]; “A exhibition of uncanny and sensual jewellery pieces by emerging artist Suse Scholem. Unusual jewellery forms evoke the imagination, intriguing yet perhaps a little disconcerting in their composition and aesthetic. Inspired by materials such as glass, bone, latex and silver, Scholem combines these with found objects and processes of glass blowing and electro-forming for the dynamic series Abject Object. Aesthically Scholem challenges polite forms of adornment, whilst thematically drawn by the social potential of Contemporary Jewellery. Our bodies are social spaces which interact with all around them. Jewellery’s close relationship with the body provides a unique platform for personal, social and emotional interpretation. This exhibition houses wearable pieces which convey both distinct and ephemeral moments, objects alluding yet subjective“; until 24th December
