RMIT Graduates ‘Bell Weather’ @ 1000 £ Bend

9 11 2010

Bell Weather‘ is the exhibition of the RMIT final year graduates and honour students, at 1000 £ Bend Gallery.

It’s a fantastic huge space, so there’s plenty of room to showcase many pieces from the sixteen students.

Unfortunately on my visit there were no works lists – apparently the manager of the premises locked the cupboards and the papers were in the cupboards … so no works list for me! I will return in the next few days to get one, for I don’t have a full list of all participants (I’ll update this when I do).

There are some great pieces here. Those that particularly struck me were:

  • Inari Kiuru: large silversmithing pieces (image below) – just fantastic, and it’s great to see the larger scale pieces; such bravery in making them Inari! Their shapes are especially evocative…
  • Chloe Powell: gold and blackened bowls (image below)
  • Anita van Doorn: enamelled boat-shaped vessel (image below)

Bell Weather‘ is at 1000 £ Bend until 12th November 2010 … get a move along!
