New work…

12 04 2010

I’ve been working on a small number of brooches for a group exhibition I’ve been invited to submit to. While I’ve finished the three pieces (after many many hours), I’m now suffering a little from post-making-blues … you know, when you haven’t had the vast swathes of time you’d like to spend perfecting the idea and technique, and the pieces are good but not quite exactly what you had in mind or just a little off kilter and if only you had another month to develop further …

As there is always curatorial discretion (as there should be in group shows!), I’m a bit shy about sharing which exhibition I’m working towards just in case the pieces aren’t shown. Further though, I don’t like to show full photographs of the pieces before they go on show – not sure exactly why, artists aren’t asked not to, but I like the idea of someone seeing it in person first (if they can make it to the show) instead of online. Anyway, what I thought I would do is share a little detail of one of the pieces:

Time-Day brooch; amended copyright notice: not to be reproduced without permission

I’ll share more about all of the pieces in a few weeks – either after the opening date of the exhibition, or when I have confirmation which pieces will be shown. But I’ll be sure to write about each piece, as I’ve enjoyed the making process (as always!).
