Jewellery at auction #2

1 08 2009

I have been keeping an eye on some auction houses and their upcoming jewellery auctions. Sometimes I find things I like, but mostly I find items that make me laugh at their glorious preposterous-ness!

Today’s example is from an upcoming auction at Philips (Malvern; 3rd August 6pm [link]) – the ring is described as: “A Fancy Diamond Dress Ring. 18ct white gold, crafted as a modern, elaborate panel dress ring, set in a stepped, kite shape, set throughout with nine baguette cut diamonds, each of uniform size, vertically set in rows, totalling approximately 1.13ct, claw set, each baguette cut framed by an oval frame of tiny brilliant cut diamonds in an oval configuration, one hundred and thirty-four in total weighing 0.49ct, finished at sides by a split band. A.T.D.W.: 1.62ct.

Horrifying yet intriguing – I want to see what it looks like on my hand!
