I’ve been asked by the lovely Abby Seymour, of Golden Ink fame, to let you know about a studio sharing opportunity in Melbourne.
“I am on the hunt for some creative people to share a studio with…
I have come across the most beautiful studio in the Young Husband building in Kensington, loads of natural light, 100sqm so ideally looking to go in with about 6 people and it’s in a fantastic creative hub of artists and small businesses.
I have a pretty decent printmaking/letterpress printing equipment that I am happy to set up for communal use, was thinking a nice mix of printmakers, jewellers, ceramacists would be lovely to share and aid each others creative practices.

I hope Abby finds some lovely open-hearted beautiful people to share with!

One of my favourite jewellery ladies, the marvellous Zoe Brand, is a-hunting jewellers.
From her blog: “I’m jeweller hunting, send me an e-mail with your website/blog address and your contact details, I like to be kept informed, and I’ve always got a need to know some fantastic jewellers (you know curating shows etc). Don’t be shy drop me a line – zowe@hotmail.com – feel free to spread the word. The more the merrier!“
And from her facebook: “I’m hunting down jewellers, drop me an e-mail with your website/blog and contact details – zowe@hotmail.com – you never know, something or nothing might come of it. Either way you have nothing to lose right?!“
Intriguing … I don’t know what it’s all about … so mysterious … am looking forward to seeing what comes of it!
Exciting news for the Melbourne jewellery community, supporters and newcomers!

Northcity4 is Ali Limb, Anna Davern, Caz Guiney, Romani Benjamin and Katherine Bowman.
We are 5 contemporary jewellery and object makers who want to celebrate, support and promote Melbourne’s amazing contemporary jewellery community.
NORTHCITY 4 is a not-for-profit organisation encompassing a shared jewellery and object studio in a healthy and professional workspace and learning environment.
We are excited! Nc4 Is a Real Thing. We have been planning and meeting and discussing and raving over bottles of wine and, finally, celebrating over bottles of champagne as our ideas and plans have come to fruition. Northcity4 is the culmination of all our hopes and passions as makers and members of our community. It will be launched officially in the new year, towards the ends of feb. (we hope)
Northcity4 is not just about us, it’s about the community we live and work in and we hope to bring it all together into this one space and share it with you and your friends.
—–
NORTHCITY 4 is committed to promoting and supporting the integration of sustainability into all aspects of jewellery and object based practice. We aim to work closely with local and international jewellers, artists and educators to expand the exploration of skills and techniques (both traditional and contemporary) and encourage the dissemination of that knowledge through mentorships, seminars, access studios and workshops.

YAY! So excited about this and look forward watching it blossom and grow and succeed. Best wishes!!
